SALTS & SEASONINGS

French Grey Salt (Sel Gris)

The Himalayan salt beds formed in the Jurassic era when large seas dried out. The massive salt flats where covered up through the ages, they became locked deep in the earth. Local weather, erosion and water leached minerals into the berried salt, imparting minerals color and taste. This gourmet salt is pure, hand-mined deep inside the pristine Himalayan mountains. The high mineral content of the Himalayan salt crystals range in color from sheer white to varying shades of pink to deep reds. The darker the color the more minerals are in the salt.(it is reported to have over 80  different trace minerals) A great Healthy replacement for your table salt, said to replenish the body with minerals and trace elements that are important for our health.

Fleur de Sel, French for “Flower of Salt”,  (pronounced "flure-de-SELL")  is hand collected from the Guerande Salt Marshes using centuries old techniques.  This exquisite salt is truly rare and difficult to harvest.  Fleur de Sel, is harvested by skimming the very surface of the salt ponds  along the coast of France, mainly but not exclusively in the Brittany region. , obtaining only the salt crystals formed on the top layer and is certified  from the Nature & Progrès institute in France, a strict certification process ensuring purity and excellence.
Fleur de Sel salt is the  number one chefs choice as the best sea salt for culinary use, with its delicate flavor, light and moist texture and high mineral content.

Fleur De Sel

Himalayan Pink Salt

French Grey Salt or Sel gris , is a coarse granular sea salt popularized by the French. Sel gris comes from the same solar evaporation salt pans as fleur de sel but is harvested differently; it is formed as the sea water flows into the Guerande Marshes, in France, during high tides. it is allowed to come into contact with the bottom of the salt pan before being raked, hence its gray color Sel gris is coarser than fleur de sel but is also a moist salt, typically containing 13 percent residual moisture
